Calque
Na linguística, uma tradução de calque ou empréstimo é uma palavra ou frase emprestada de outra língua por tradução literal, palavra por palavra ou raiz para raiz. Usado como um verbo, "calque" significa emprestar uma palavra ou frase de outro idioma ao traduzir seus componentes de modo a criar um novo lexema no idioma alvo. "Calque" é uma palavra empréstimo de um substantivo francês, e deriva do verbo calcário. "Loanword" é um calque do Lehnwort alemão, assim como "tradução de empréstimo" é de Lehnübersetzung. Provar que uma palavra é um calque às vezes requer mais documentação do que uma legenda não traduzida porque, em alguns casos, uma frase semelhante pode ter surgido em ambos os idiomas de forma independente. Isto é menos provável que seja o caso quando a gramática do calque proposto é bastante diferente da linguagem emprestada ou quando o calque contém imagens menos óbvias. Calquing é distinto da combinação fono-semântica. Enquanto o calqueting inclui a tradução semântica, não consiste em correspondência fonética.
