세계무역기구

A OMC é o órgão responsável por supervisionar o grande número de acordos que definem as relações comerciais entre os países membros. A OMC surgiu para substituir o acordo geral sobre tarifas e comércio, que começou em 1947 e visa reduzir ou eliminar barreiras comerciais globais. Isso garante um comércio mais suave e gratuito entre os países. A sede da Organização Mundial do Comércio está localizada em Genebra, na Suíça. Em 13 de maio de 2005, Pascal Lamy foi eleito Secretário-Geral. Ele recebeu o cargo de Secretário Geral em 1 de setembro de 2005, do ex-Secretário-Geral Suppachai Panetchakpak. A partir de março de 2013, existem 159 Estados-Membros e a maioria deles são países em desenvolvimento. Todos os Estados-Membros têm a obrigação de respeitar o princípio do "favoritismo incondicional", o que significa que o privilégio de um único Estado-Membro também deve ser aplicado a todos os outros Estados-Membros.
