Azeka é uma cidade bíblica localizada na parte nordeste de Judá, na rota da costa até as Terras Altas da Judéia. Nas proximidades de Azeka, havia um caminho para Belém, no vale de Belém. A cidade é identificada com o Tell Zakarie contemporâneo. As escavações arqueológicas no Tell Zakarie começaram no final do século XIX. Entre 1898 e 1899, a expedição liderada por Frederick Jones Bliss e Robert Alexander Stewart Macalister da Fundação de Pesquisa Palestina descobriram restos de uma cidade fortificada do século 10 aC. W źródłach pisanych miasto zostało wzmiankowane w czwartym liście z Lakisz, co dowodzi, że miało ważne znaczenie strategiczne dla Judy. O utracie pozycji po zdobyciu go przez Babilończyków świadczą nieliczne znaleziska z okresu perskiego i hellenistycznego. Za panowania Saula pod koniec XI wieku p.n.e. według 1 Księgi Samuela nieopodal Azeki w kierunku Soko Filistyni gromadzili swoje siły, aby rozpocząć wojnę z Izraelem.
