Eternit

Eternit - nome comercial, que ao longo do tempo tornou-se um nome comum para materiais de construção de amianto-cimento. Os painéis e tubos de montagem e coberturas foram feitos de eternidade. É refratário, à prova de intempéries e resistente a água e águas residuais, ainda que mecanicamente resistente, mesmo em produtos de paredes finas, que também era relativamente leve e relativamente barato. Mundialmente conhecido e usado desde o início do século XX. Sua verdadeira popularidade na Polônia ocorreu na década de 1970. Tornou-se um elemento característico da paisagem do campo polonês como material de cobertura em edifícios humanos e comerciais, deslocando o telhado que era mais caro. Devido à aparente nocividade das fibras de amianto depositadas nos pulmões, o uso da eternidade foi banido na maioria dos países desenvolvidos do mundo, e os revestimentos de eternidade existentes estão sendo removidos.

Eternit – nazwa handlowa, która z czasem stała się nazwą potoczną materiałów budowlanych azbestowo-cementowych. Z eternitu wykonywano płyty pokryciowe – elewacyjne i dachowe – oraz rury. Jest to materiał ogniotrwały, odporny na warunki atmosferyczne oraz działanie wody i ścieków, a jednocześnie wytrzymały mechanicznie, nawet w wyrobach o ściankach niewielkiej grubości, przez co był również relatywnie lekki i dość tani. Na świecie znany i stosowany od początku XX wieku. Jego prawdziwa popularność w Polsce nastała w latach 70. XX wieku. Stał się wtedy charakterystycznym elementem krajobrazu polskiej wsi jako materiał pokryciowy zarówno na siedzibach ludzkich, jak i budynkach gospodarczych, wypierając droższą od niego dachówkę. Ze względu na stwierdzoną szkodliwość włókien azbestu odkładających się w płucach, stosowanie eternitu zostało zakazane w większości rozwiniętych państw świata, a istniejące pokrycia eternitowe są usuwane.
