Actium a fost numele antic al unui promontoriu al Greciei de Vest din nord-vestul Acarnaniei, la gura Sinusului Ambracius, vizavi de Nicopolis, construit de Augustus pe partea de nord a strâmtorii. Pe promontoriu era un templu vechi al lui Apollo Actius, care a fost lărgit de Augustus, care, pentru a memorializa Bătălia de la Actium, a instituit sau a reînnoit jocurile chinquennial cunoscute sub numele de Actia sau Ludi Actiaci. Actiaca Aera a fost un calcul al timpului din bătălie. Pe promontoriu era un mic oraș, sau mai degrabă un sat, numit și Actium.
