În recensământul din Marea Britanie din 2001, parohia avea o populație de 927 de locuitori. Satul se află pe marginea sudică a câmpiei de inundații a râului Kennet, în apropierea graniței județului Hampshire. Este aproape echidistant de la Newbury, Basingstoke și Reading și la 45 de mile vest de Londra. Aldermaston ar fi putut fi locuit încă din anul 1690 î.Hr.; au fost găsite o serie de gropi și rămășițe de boabe de cereale în zonă. Istoricul istoric al satului este urmărit cel puțin până în secolul al IX-lea dH. Cronicile anglo-saxone arată că Ealdormanul de la Berkshire avea proprietatea de țară în sat.
