Algol
Algol, cunoscut în mod colocvial ca Starul Demon, este o stea strălucitoare în constelația Perseus. Este unul dintre cele mai cunoscute binare eclipsante, prima astfel de stea care trebuie descoperită și una dintre primele stele variabile care trebuie descoperite. Algol este de fapt un sistem de trei stele în care Beta Persea A mare și luminos primar este eclipsat în mod regulat de dimmerul Beta Persei B. Astfel, magnitudinea lui Algol este de obicei aproape constantă la 2,1, dar scade regulat la 3,4 la fiecare 2 zile, 20 ore și 49 de minute în timpul eclipselor parțiale de aproximativ 10 ore.
