Amfifilul este un termen care descrie un compus chimic care posedă atât proprietăți hidrofile, cât și lipofile. Un astfel de compus se numește amfifil sau amfipatic. Aceasta formează baza pentru o serie de domenii de cercetare în chimie și biochimie, în special în domeniul polimorfismului lipidic. Compușii organici care conțin grupări hidrofilice la ambele capete ale unei molecule prolate sunt denumite boliamfifilice.
