Autacoidele sau "autocoidele" sunt factori biologici care acționează ca hormoni locali, au o scurtă durată și acționează în apropierea locului de sinteză. Cuvantul autacoids vine de la "Autos" si "Acos" grecesti. Efectul autocicidelor este în mare parte localizat, dar cantități mari pot fi produse și mutate în circulație. Autecoizii pot avea astfel efect sistemic prin transportul prin circulație. Aceste molecule de reglare sunt, de asemenea, metabolizate local. Astfel, compușii sunt produși local, acționează local și sunt metabolizați local. Autoocoidele pot avea multe acțiuni biologice diferite, incluzând modularea activității mușchilor, a glandelor, a nervilor, a trombocitelor și a altor țesuturi netede.
