British Somaliland
Somalilandul britanic a fost un protectorat britanic în nord-vestul Somaliei de astăzi. Pentru o mare parte din existența sa, teritoriul a fost mărginit de Somaliland italian, Somaliland francez și Etiopia. Din 1940 până în 1941, era ocupată de italieni și făcea parte din Africa de Est italiană. Protectoratul a obținut pe scurt independența, la 26 iunie 1960, ca stat al Somalilandului, înainte de a se uni, așa cum a fost planificat cu Teritoriul Trustului Somaliei, pentru a forma Republica Somalia la 1 iulie 1960. Guvernul Somaliland, un stat suveran auto-declarat, recunoscut pe plan internațional o regiune autonomă din Somalia, consideră teritoriul drept stat succesor al statului Somaliland.
