În teoria probabilității, probabilitatea condiționată măsoară probabilitatea unui eveniment dat fiind faptul că (prin ipoteză, prezumție, afirmație sau dovezi) sa produs un alt eveniment. Dacă evenimentele sunt A și respectiv B, se spune că aceasta este "probabilitatea de A dat B". Este desemnată în mod obișnuit prin P (A B), sau uneori PB (A). În cazul în care ambele "A" și "B" sunt variabile categorice, tabelul de probabilitate condiționată este de obicei folosit pentru a reprezenta probabilitatea condiționată. Conceptul de probabilitate condiționată este unul dintre cele mai fundamentale și unul dintre cele mai importante concepte din teoria probabilităților. Dar probabilitățile condiționale pot fi destul de alunecoase și necesită o interpretare atentă. În inferența statistică, probabilitatea condiționată este o actualizare a probabilității unui eveniment bazat pe informații noi.
