Metasequoia gliptostroboides, rasada de răsărit, este un copac conifer amenințat de creștere, singura specie vie din genul Metasequoia, una din cele trei specii din subfamilia Sequoioideae. Este nativ din regiunea Sichuan-Hubei din China. Deși este cel mai scurt dintre rasini, crește până la cel puțin 200 ft înălțime. Metasequoia glyptostroboides bonsai Tree Satenii locali se referă la arborele original din care majoritatea provin de la Shui-shan 水杉 sau "brad de apă", care face parte dintr-un altar local.
