Delphi
Delphi este atât un sit arheologic, cât și un oraș modern din Grecia, în partea de sud-vest a Muntelui Parnassus, în valea Phocis. În miturile care datează din perioada clasică a Greciei antice, site-ul Delphi era considerat a fi determinat de Zeus când a căutat să găsească centrul "Pământului Bunicii". El a trimis doi vulturi care zboară de la extremitățile de est și de vest, iar calea vulturului a trecut peste Delphi unde s-au găsit omfalii sau ombilicul Gaiei. Miturile mai vechi includ tradiții pe care Pythia sau oracolul Delphic a fost deja locul unui oracol important în lumea greacă pre-clasică și, rededicat, a servit drept situl major în timpul clasic pentru închinarea la zeul Apollo după ce a ucis Python , "un dragon" care a trăit acolo și a protejat buricul Pământului. "Python" este revendicat de unii ca fiind numele original al site-ului ca o recunoaștere a Python-ului pe care Apollo la învins. Imnul homeric către Delphic Apollo a reamintit că numele antic al acestui site a fost Krisa.
