Un gatekeeper este o persoană care controlează accesul la ceva, de exemplu prin intermediul unei porți a orașului. La sfârșitul secolului al XX-lea, termenul a intrat în uz metaforic, referindu-se la persoanele care decid dacă un mesaj dat va fi distribuit de un mediu de masă.
