Grafenul
Grafenul este pur carbon, sub forma unei foi foarte subțiri, aproape transparente, cu un atom gros. Este remarcabil de puternic pentru greutatea sa foarte scăzută și conduce căldură și electricitate cu o mare eficiență. În timp ce oamenii de știință au studiat teoria grafenului de zeci de ani, acesta a fost pentru prima dată produs în laborator în 2004. Deoarece este practic bidimensional, el interacționează ciudat cu lumina și cu alte materiale. Cercetătorii au identificat efectul tranzistor bipolar, transportul balismatic al încărcăturilor și oscilațiile mari cuantice.
