Miklós Horthy
Miklós Horthy de Nagybánya a fost regent al Regatului Ungariei în perioada dintre războaiele mondiale I și II și în cea mai mare parte a celui de-al doilea război mondial, care a servit în perioada 1 martie 1920 - 15 octombrie 1944. El a fost numit "Înălțimea Sa Serenică Regentul Împărăției din Ungaria ". Horthy și-a început cariera ca ofițer în marina austro-ungară, în cele din urmă ridicându-se la rangul de amiral. A slujit în raidul Otranto și la bătălia de la strâmtoarea Otranto și a fost comandantul-șef al flotei navale austro-ungare în ultimul an al primului război mondial. După ce comuniștii maghiari sub Béla Kun au preluat puterea în Ungaria în 1919, proclamând Republica Sovietică a Ungariei și începând Teroarea Roșie a Ungariei, sa format un guvern contrarevoluționar care la rugat pe Horthy să preia comanda forțelor sale. În 1919, forțele române, cehoslovace și iugoslave au invadat Ungaria, iar mai târziu armata română a răsturnat guvernul lui Kun.
