Hidrometru
Un hipermetru este un instrument utilizat pentru a măsura gravitatea specifică a lichidelor; adică raportul dintre densitatea lichidului și densitatea apei. Un hipermetru este, de obicei, fabricat din sticlă și constă dintr-o tulpină cilindrică și un bec ponderat cu mercur sau cu plumb pentru a face să plutească în poziție verticală. Lichidul care urmează să fie testat este turnat într-un recipient înalt, adesea un cilindru gradat, iar hidrometrul este ușor coborât în lichid până când acesta plutește liber.
