Hiperkinezia, cunoscută și sub denumirea de hiperkineză, se referă la o creștere a activității musculare care poate duce la mișcări anormale excesive, mișcări normale excesive sau o combinație a ambelor. Cuvântul hiperkineză provine de la hiper-greacă, adică "crescut" și "kinein", adică "a muta".
