Internal market

Piața internă a Uniunii Europene urmărește să garanteze libera circulație a mărfurilor, a capitalului, a serviciilor și a persoanelor - "cele patru libertăți" ale UE - în cadrul celor 28 de state membre ale UE. Piața internă este menită să contribuie la o concurență sporită, la o specializare sporită, la economii mai mari de scară, permițând mărfurilor și factorilor de producție să se deplaseze în zona în care sunt cele mai apreciate, îmbunătățind astfel eficiența alocării resurselor. De asemenea, intenționează să stimuleze integrarea economică, prin care economiile o dată distincte ale statelor membre să devină integrate într-o economie unică la nivelul întregii UE. Jumătate din comerțul cu bunuri în UE este acoperit de legislația armonizată de UE. Crearea pieței interne ca o piață unică fără sudură este un proces în curs de desfășurare, integrarea sectorului serviciilor care încă conține lacune. De asemenea, are un element internațional în creștere, piața fiind reprezentată ca una în negocierile comerciale internaționale. În special, piața internă este deschisă pentru trei state din afara UE prin intermediul Spațiului Economic European.

The European Union's internal market seeks to guarantee the free movement of goods, capital, services, and people – the EU's "four freedoms" – within the EU's 28 member states. The internal market is intended to be conducive to increased competition, increased specialisation, larger economies of scale, allowing goods and factors of production to move to the area where they are most valued, thus improving the efficiency of the allocation of resources. It is also intended to drive economic integration whereby the once separate economies of the member states become integrated within a single EU wide economy. Half of the trade in goods within the EU is covered by legislation harmonised by the EU. The creation of the internal market as a seamless, single market is an ongoing process, with the integration of the service industry still containing gaps. It also has an increasing international element, with the market represented as one in international trade negotiations. Notably, the internal market is open to three non-EU states via the European Economic Area.
