Kuomintang
Kuomintang, oficial Kuomintang din China, sau uneori romanizat ca Guomindang prin transliterația lui Pinyin, este un partid politic în Republica Chineză. Este partidul politic aflat la putere în Taiwan. Numele înseamnă literalmente Partidul Popular Național Chinez, dar este mai des tradus ca Partidul Naționalist Chinez. Predecesorul KMT, Alianța Revoluționară, a fost unul dintre principalii susținători ai răsturnării dinastiei Qing și a înființării unei republici. KMT a fost fondată de Song Jiaoren și Sun Yat-sen la scurt timp după Revoluția Xinhai din 1911. Soarele era președinte provizoriu, dar el nu avea putere militară și cedase prima președinție liderului militar Yuan Shikai. După moartea lui Yuan, China a fost împărțită de războinici, în timp ce KMT a reușit să controleze doar o parte din sud. Mai târziu condusă de Chiang Kai-shek, KMT a format o armată și a reușit în expediția sa de Nord să unifice o mare parte din China.
