Societatea de drept
O societate de drept în jurisdicțiile actuale și foste ale Commonwealth-ului a fost, în mod istoric, o asociație de avocați cu rol de reglementare care a inclus dreptul de a supraveghea formarea, calificările și conduita avocaților / avocaților. În cazul în care există o distincție între avocați și solicitanți, avocații au fost reglementați de societățile de drept și de avocați de un Consiliu Barou separat. În Statele Unite, asociațiile de bare unificate sunt oarecum asemănătoare cu cele ale societăților de drept, cu toate acestea există diferențe între societățile de drept și fenomenul american general al asociațiilor de bară. De obicei o asociație de bară este o asociație de avocați; avocații pot sau nu să se alăture așa cum doresc.
