Nisipurile de petrol, nisipurile gudronate sau, mai mult din punct de vedere tehnic, nisipurile bituminoase sunt un tip de depozit neconvențional de petrol. Nisipul de nisip este fie nisip vrac, fie gresie parțial consolidată care conține un amestec natural de nisip, argilă și apă, saturat cu o formă densă și foarte vâscoasă de petrol, denumită tehnic bitum. Depunerile de bitum natural sunt raportate în multe țări, dar în special se găsesc în cantități foarte mari în Canada. Alte rezerve mari sunt situate în Kazahstan și Rusia. Depozitele globale estimate de petrol sunt mai mari de 2 trilioane de barili; estimările includ depozite care nu au fost încă descoperite. Rezervele dovedite de bitum conțin aproximativ 100 miliarde de barili, iar rezervele totale de bitum natural sunt estimate la 249,67 Gbbl la nivel global, dintre care 176,8 Gbbl, sau 70,8%, sunt în Canada. Rezervele de nisipuri de petrol au fost considerate recent ca făcând parte din rezervele mondiale de petrol, deoarece prețurile ridicate ale petrolului și noile tehnologii permit extracția și prelucrarea profitabile.
