Patologie
Patologia (de la rădăcini grecești antice ale pasosului (pasiune), adică "experiență" sau "suferință", și -logia (-ologie), este o componentă semnificativă a studiului cauzal al bolii și a unui domeniu important în practica medicală modernă și diagnostic. Termenul patologie însăși poate fi folosit în general pentru a se referi la studiul bolii în general, care încorporează o gamă largă de domenii de cercetare biologică și practici medicale, sau mai restrâns pentru a descrie activitatea în domeniul medical contemporan al "patologiei generale", care include numărul de specialități medicale distincte, dar intermediare, care diagnostichează boala, în principal prin analiza probelor de țesut, celulă și lichid de corp. Folosit ca un substantiv comun, o "patologie" (plural - "patologii" sau "patoze") se poate referi, de asemenea, la evoluția prezisă sau reală a anumitor boli (așa cum se menționează în "multe forme diferite de cancer au diverse patologii") și prefixul "calea" este uneori folosit pentru a indica o stare de boală atât în cazurile de afecțiune fizică (cum ar fi în cardiomiopatie), cât și în condițiile psihologice (cum ar fi psihopatia).
