Farmacologie
Farmacologia este ramura medicinii și biologiei care se ocupă de studiul acțiunii medicamentului, în care un medicament poate fi definit pe larg ca orice moleculă umană, naturală sau endogenă care exercită un efect biochimic și / sau fiziologic asupra celulei, țesutului, organului , sau organism. Mai exact, studiul interacțiunilor care apar între un organism viu și substanțele chimice care afectează funcția biochimică normală sau anormală. Dacă substanțele au proprietăți medicinale, ele sunt considerate produse farmaceutice. Domeniul cuprinde compoziția și proprietățile medicamentului, sinteza și designul medicamentului, mecanismele moleculare și celulare, mecanismele organelor / sistemelor, transducția semnalului / comunicarea celulară, diagnosticul molecular, interacțiunile, toxicologia, biologia chimică, terapia și aplicațiile medicale și capacitățile antipatogene. Cele două domenii principale de farmacologie sunt farmacodinamica și farmacocinetica. Primul studiu studiază efectele medicamentului asupra sistemelor biologice, iar cele din urmă efectele sistemelor biologice asupra medicamentului.
