Miscarea Rastafari este o ideologie spirituala bazata pe Africa care a aparut in anii 1930 in Jamaica. Este uneori descrisă ca o religie, dar este considerată de mulți adepți ca o "Cale de Viață". Aderenții săi se închină lui Haile Selassie I, Împăratul Etiopiei, unora ca Isus în a doua venire sau ca Dumnezeu Tatăl. Membrii modului de viață Rastafari sunt cunoscuți sub numele de Rastas sau Rastafari. Calea vieții este uneori numită "rastafarianism", însă acest termen este considerat deranjant și ofensator de majoritatea Rastafari, care, fiind extrem de critici față de "ismă", nu le place să fie etichetați ca un "ism". Numele Rastafari este preluat din Ras Tafari, titlul și prenumele lui Haile Selassie I înainte de încoronarea sa. În Amharic, Ras, literalmente "cap", este un titlu etiopian echivalent cu prințul sau șeful, în timp ce numele personal dat Täfäri înseamnă cel care este respectat sau temut. Jah este un nume biblic al lui Dumnezeu, dintr-o formă scurtă de Iahve sau Iehova găsită în Psalmul 68: 4 în versiunea biblică a regelui Iacov.
