Lucrarea de schimb este o practică de angajare destinată utilizării sau furnizării serviciului în toate cele 24 de ore din fiecare zi a săptămânii. De obicei, practica vede ziua divizată în "schimburi", stabilind perioade în care diferite grupuri de muncitori își ocupă posturile. Termenul "muncă în schimburi" include atât schimburi de noapte pe termen lung, cât și programe de lucru în care angajații schimbă sau rotesc schimburile. În medicină și epidemiologie, munca în schimburi este considerată un factor de risc pentru unele probleme de sănătate la unii indivizi, deoarece întreruperea ritmurilor circadiene poate crește probabilitatea apariției bolilor cardiovasculare, insuficienței cognitive, diabetului și obezității.
