Squamosal este un os de cap de vertebrate mai mari. Este componenta principală a regiunii obrazului din craniu, situată sub seria temporală și crestă otică și limitată anterior de postorbital. În partea posterioară, squamosalul se articulează cu elementele posterioare ale complexului palatal, și anume cuadratul și pterygoidul. Squamosal este limitat anteroventrally de către jugal și ventral de quadratojugal. La multe mamifere, inclusiv la oameni, se îmbină cu osul periodic și bulla auditivă pentru a forma osul temporal, denumit apoi squama temporalis.
