Un tahimetru sau tacheometru este un tip de teodolit folosit pentru măsurători rapide și determină, în mod electronic sau electro-optic, distanța până la țintă și este foarte automatizată în operațiunile sale. Astfel de tahimetre sunt adesea folosite în topografie. Tahimetria sau tahometria sunt procesul de măsurare indirectă a distanței. Acest lucru se poate realiza prin măsurarea timpului și a vitezei într-un vehicul în mișcare sau prin observarea unui unghi mic într-o scară îndepărtată transversală față de linia de vedere.
