Legea testului
Actele de testare au fost o serie de legi penale engleze care au servit ca un test religios pentru funcția publică și au impus diferite dizabilități civile asupra romano-catolicilor și neconformiștilor. Principiul era că nimeni altul decât cei care mărturisesc Biserica instituită nu era eligibil pentru ocuparea forței de muncă publice, iar sancțiunile severe pronunțate împotriva recuzanților, fie că erau catolici sau neconformiști, erau afirmații ale acestui principiu. În practică, neconformiștii erau deseori scutiți de unele dintre aceste legi prin trecerea regulată a Faptelor de Indemnitate.

Definiția Actului de testare din dicționar este o lege adoptată în 1673 în Anglia pentru a exclude pe catolicii din viața publică, cerând tuturor persoanelor care dețin funcții sub coroană, cum ar fi ofițerii de armată, să ia comuniunea anglicană și să îndeplinească alte acte interzise unui catolic : abrogat în 1828.
