Sigrid Undset
Sigrid Undset a fost un romancier norvegian, care a primit premiul Nobel pentru literatură în 1928. Undset sa născut în Kalundborg, Danemarca, dar familia sa sa mutat în Norvegia, când avea doi ani. În 1924, ea sa convertit la catolicism. A părăsit Norvegia pentru Statele Unite în 1940 din cauza opoziției sale față de Germania nazistă și ocupația germană, dar revenită după cel de-al doilea război mondial încheiat în 1945. Cea mai cunoscută lucrare este Kristin Lavransdatter, o trilogie despre viața din Scandinavia în Evul Mediu , portretizată prin experiențele unei femei de la naștere până la moarte. Cele trei volume ale sale au fost publicate între anii 1920 și 1922. Premiul Nobel de la Undset a fost acordat parțial pentru această lucrare și parțial pentru lucrarea în patru volume "Master of Hestviken", publicată între 1925 și 1927 și care se ocupă de teme similare.
