Jahwist
Jahwistul sau Yahwistul, adesea abreviat J în discursul exegetic, este una dintre sursele Pentateuhului, împreună cu Deuteronomistul, Elohistul și sursa Preoțească. Numele său este dat de faptul că în mod caracteristic folosește termenul "Yahweh" pentru Dumnezeu în cartea Genezei. În cea mai mare parte a secolului al XX-lea credința dominantă în rândul savanților a fost că Tora a fost compusă prin intercalarea a patru documente originale separate și complete, dintre care Yahwist-ul a fost unul - aceasta a fost numită ipoteza documentară. În ultimul sfert al secolului XX, consensul asupra ipotezei documentare sa demonstrat și, deși are încă suporteri, există acum multe alternative. Aceste alternative pot fi împărțite pe larg între modelele "fragmentare" și "suplimentare". Ipotezele fragmentare, văzute în special în lucrarea lui Rolf Rendtorff și a lui Erhard Blum, văd că Pentateuhul crește ca urmare a acumulării treptate a materialului în blocuri mai mari și mai mari înainte de a se uni, mai întâi de către un scriitor deuteronom și apoi de un scriitor preoțesc, a adăugat și propriul material.
