Este un element electronic de circuit semiconductor care este folosit ca element de comutare, dacă este necesar, pentru a asigura câștigul de tensiune și curent prin ridicarea semnalului aplicat intrării de intrare sau a tranzistorului. BJT este un tranzistor de suprafață cu joncțiune dublă. Se compune din două elemente N, un element P sau două elemente P, un element N. Tranzistorul este un element de circuit cu trei poli. Stâlpul central pe simbolul circuitului se numește Bază, polul pe care se află se numește Emițător, celălalt se numește Colectorul Polar. Curenții colectorului și emițătorului sunt ajustați în funcție de gravitatea curentului de bază. Acest raport de setare depinde de factorul de câștig. Tranzistorii reprezintă blocurile de dispozitive electronice. Dispozitivele electronice utilizate în viața de zi cu zi pot avea cât mai multe tranzistoare ca mai multe miliarde în număr.
