Алеутские острова (/ əl (j) uːʃən /, возможно, из Чукотского алята, «остров») представляют собой цепочку из 14 крупных вулканических островов и 57 меньших, которые являются частью Алеутской дуги в северной части Тихого океана, занимая площадь 6 821 кв. Миль (17 666 км²) и протяженностью около 1200 миль (1900 км) к западу от полуострова Аляска к полуострову Камчатка, обозначая линию между Беринговым морем и Тихим океаном. Пересекая долготу 180 °, они являются самой западной частью Соединенных Штатов (и одним определением являются самые восточные, см. Экстремальные точки Соединенных Штатов). Почти весь архипелаг является частью Аляски и обычно считается находящимся в «Аляскинском Буше», но на крайнем западном конце небольшие, геологически связанные и отдаленные Командорские острова принадлежат России. Острова с их 57 вулканами находятся в северной части Тихоокеанского Кольца Огня. Через острова проходит морская автомагистраль Аляска (паромное сообщение). Физиографически они представляют собой отдельный участок большей части Тихоокеанской пограничной провинции, который, в свою очередь, является частью более обширного физиографического подразделения Тихоокеанской горной системы.
