Гексаметр - это метрическая линия стиха, состоящая из шести футов. Это был стандартный эпический метр в классической греческой и латинской литературе, например, в «Илиаде», «Одиссее» и «Энеиде». Его использование в других жанрах композиции включает сатиры Горация, Метаморфозы Овидия и Гимны Орфея. Согласно греческой мифологии, гексаметр был изобретен богом Гермесом.
