Быстрый сон для движения глаз - это этап сна, характеризующийся быстрым и случайным движением глаз. Быстрый сон для движения глаз подразделяется на две категории: тонизирующий и фазовый. Он был идентифицирован и определен Натаниэлем Клейтманом и его учеником Юджином Асеринским в 1953 году.
