Фосфороскоп - это часть экспериментального оборудования, разработанного в 1857 году физиком А. Э. Беккерелем для измерения того, сколько времени требуется, чтобы фосфоресцирующий материал переставал светиться после его возбуждения. Он состоит из двух вращающихся дисков с отверстиями в них. Отверстия размещаются на каждом диске на равных угловых радиальных линиях и заданном расстоянии от центра, но они не выравниваются друг с другом. Свет, проникающий через отверстие в одном из дисков, возбуждает фосфоресцирующий материал, который затем испускает свет в течение короткого промежутка времени.
