Тегментум - общая область мозга. Он расположен между желудочковой системой и отличительными базальными или вентральными структурами на каждом уровне. Он образует пол среднего мозга, а тектум образует потолок. Это мультисинаптическая сеть нейронов, которая участвует во многих бессознательных гомеостатических и рефлексивных путях. Тегментум - это расположение нескольких ядер черепных нервов. Ядра CN III и IV расположены в тегментарной части среднего мозга. Ядра CN V-VIII расположены в тегментуме на уровне pons. Ядра CN IX, X и XII расположены в ядрах мозгового вещества.
