சர்வதேச அளவில் பெரும்பாலும் ஒரு நாட்டிற்கும் மேலானது உள்ளடங்கிய ஒன்று. ஒரு வார்த்தையாக சர்வதேச சொல் என்பது ஒன்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட நாடுகளுக்கு இடையேயான தொடர்பு, அல்லது பொதுவாக தேசிய எல்லைகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது என்பதாகும். உதாரணமாக, சர்வதேச சட்டம், ஒன்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட நாடுகளாலும், பொதுவாக எல்லா இடங்களிலும் பூமியிலும், ஒன்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட நாடுகளால் பேசப்படும் ஒரு மொழி இது சர்வதேச மொழியிலும் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. அமெரிக்கன் ஆங்கிலத்தில், "சர்வதேச" என்பது பொதுவாக "வெளிநாட்டு" அல்லது "வெளிநாட்டவர்" என்ற ஒரு இனவாதமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது.
