இலங்கையில் மத்திய மாகாணத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இலங்கையில் கண்டி ஒரு முக்கிய நகரம். கொழும்பிற்குப் பின்னர் நாட்டின் இரண்டாவது பெரிய நகரமாக இது அமைந்துள்ளது. இது இலங்கையின் பண்டைய அரசர்களின் சகாப்தத்தின் கடைசி தலைநகரமாக இருந்தது. கண்டி மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள மலைகளின் நடுவே இந்த நகரம் அமைந்துள்ளது, இது வெப்பமண்டல தோட்டங்களில், முக்கியமாக தேநீர் கடந்து செல்கிறது. கண்டி, நிர்வாக மற்றும் மத நகரமாகவும் மத்திய மாகாணத்தின் தலைநகராகவும் உள்ளது. புத்தமத உலகில் மிகவும் புனிதமான வழிபாட்டுத் தலங்களில் ஒன்றான டூத் ரிலிக் கோயில், கண்டி கண்டிப்பாக உள்ளது. இது 1988 இல் யுனெஸ்கோவின் உலக பாரம்பரிய தளமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
