Abatis, abattis, ya da abbattis, üst üste sıralanmış ağaçların dallarından oluşan bir engel için tarla kuvvetlendirilmesinde kullanılan bir terimdir; keskinleştirilmiş tepeler dışarıya doğru düşmana doğru yönlendirilir. Ağaçlar genellikle birbirine bağlanmış veya tel ile bağlıdır. Abatis tek başına veya tel dolaşımı ve diğer engeller ile birlikte kullanılır. Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi ve Amerika İç Savaşı gibi kısa bir süre önce kullanıldığına dair kanıtlar vardır. Abatis bugünlerde nadiren tel engeller ile yer değiştirmiş gibi görülüyor. Bununla birlikte, dikenli telin kısa devre durumunda değiştirme veya ilave olarak kullanılabilir. Bir çeşit dev abatis, dallar yerine bütün ağaçları kullanarak, doğaçtan önlenmiş bir tank karşıtı engel olarak kullanılabilir. Charles-Michel de Salaberry komutasındaki yaklaşık 1.300 Kanadalı öğrencinin yaklaşık 4.000 kişilik bir Amerikan kolordu kazandığı 26 Ekim 1813'te Chateauguay Savaşı'nda klasik bir abatis kullanımı bulundu. Bir diğer çarpıcı örnek ise, Plattsburgh Savaşı'ndaki çarpıcı zaferde Alexander Macomb tarafından kullanılmasıydı. Dikenli telin aksine, abatisin önemli bir zayıflığı, yangınla tahrip edilebilmesidir.
