Asetat
Asetat / æsɨteɪt /, sulu çözeltide tipik olarak bulunan negatif bir iyon veya anyondur. Genellikle C2H3O2- kimyasal formülü ile yazılır. Asetat iyonu ve pozitif iyonun kombinasyonu tarafından oluşturulan nötr moleküller, genelde "asetatlar" olarak adlandırılır. Bunların en basitleri, karşılık gelen tuzlar, esterler ve poliatomik anyon CH3CO2- veya CH3COO- ile hidrojen asetat veya asetik asittir. Yılda sanayide üretilen yaklaşık 5 milyar kilogramlık asetik asit çoğu zaman polimer şeklindeki asetatlar üretiminde kullanılmaktadır. Doğada asetat, biyosentez için en yaygın yapı taşıdır. Örneğin, yağ asitleri, iki karbon atomunun asetattan büyüyen bir yağ asidine bağlanmasıyla üretilir.
