Radyasyon yanığı
Bir radyasyon yanması, radyasyona maruz kalmanın yol açtığı cilde veya diğer biyolojik dokulara zarar verir. En çok endişe verici radyasyon türleri termal radyasyon, radyo frekansı enerjisi, ultraviyole ışığı ve iyonlaştırıcı radyasyon türüdür. En yaygın radyasyon türü, UV radyasyonunun neden olduğu bir güneş yanığıdır. Tanı amaçlı medikal görüntüleme veya radyoterapi sırasında X-ışınlarına yüksek maruz kalma da radyasyon yanıklarına neden olabilir. İyonlaştırıcı radyasyon vücuttaki hücrelerle etkileşime girerek kendine zarar verdiği için vücut bu hasara tepki gösterir ve bu hasar genellikle hasar gören alanın etrafındaki kızarıklık şeklinde eritem ile sonuçlanır. Radyasyon yanıkları genellikle iyonize radyasyonun DNA ile etkileşime girmesi ve hasar vermesi, bazen de bir hücrenin kanserli olmasına neden olması nedeniyle radyasyona bağlı kansere bağlıdır.
