Aeskinomen elaphroxylon
Ayrıca ambatch, pith tree veya Balsa ağaç ağacı olarak da bilinen Aeskinomen elaphroxylon, Fabaceae familyasındaki Aeschynomene cinsi küçük ağacın yaygın bir çalıdır. Yapraklar altındaki dikenli dikenlerin ve dikenli sapların bulunduğu 9 m yüksekliğe kadar büyüyebilir. A. elaphroxylon, tropikal Afrika'nın bazı yerlerine aittir. Genellikle suyla büyür ve Gana ve Nijerya gibi ülkelerdeki nehirler, göller ve bataklıklar gibi su topraklarında toprağa bulaşır ancak Tropikal Afrika'da Etiyopya ve Sudan'da, güneydoğu ve doğuda Zimbabve'de yaygınlaşmaktadır. A. elaphroxylon'un tohumları, yetişen su dolu bankalarda birkaç yıl gömüldükten sonra kalıcı olduğu bilinmektedir. Tohumlar, ağaç üzerinde düzleşmiş, dik olan spiraller halinde büyüyen kapsüller içinde bulunur. Ağacın kökünde azot tespit nodülleri vardır. Etiyopya'da türler Nechisar Milli Parkı'nda bulunabilir.
