Bir asit amidi olarak da bilinen bir amid, RnE (O) xNR'2 işlevsel grubu olan bir bileşiktir (R ve R ', H veya organik grupları ifade eder). En sık görülen "organik amitler" (n = 1, E = C, x = 1), ancak fosfor amidleri (n = 2, E = P, x = 1 ve birçok ilgili formüller) ve sülfonamitler (E = S, x = 2).
