Anemi
Anemi; kırmızı kan hücrelerinin sayısındaki azalmadır veya kan içindeki normal hemoglobin miktarından daha düşüktür. Hemoglobin eksikliğinin bazı diğer tiplerinde olduğu gibi deformite veya sayısal gelişim eksikliği nedeniyle her hemoglobin molekülünün oksijen bağlama kabiliyetinde azalma olduğu durumlarda anemi de teşhis edilebilir. Adı Antik Yunancadan türetilmiştir: ἀναιμία animia, "kanlılık" anlamındadır, ἀν-an-, "değil" + αἷμα haima, "kan" dan. Hemoglobin, normalde akciğerlerden kılcal damarlara oksijen taşıdığından, anemi organlarda hipoksiye neden olur. Tüm insan hücreleri hayatta kalma için oksijene bağımlı olduklarından, değişen derecelerde anemi geniş bir klinik sonuç yelpazesine sahip olabilir. Anemi kanın en sık görülen bozukluğudur. Birkaç çeşit anemi, çeşitli nedenlerle üretilir.
