Anamorfik format, geniş 35GB'lik film veya diğer görsel kayıt ortamında geniş ekrana sahip olmayan doğal bir en boy oranına sahip bir geniş ekran resmi çekmek için kullanılan görüntü yönetmelik tekniğini ifade eder. Aynı zamanda, bozulmuş bir görüntünün, izleme ekranında orijinal en-boy oranını yeniden oluşturmak için bir anamorfik projeksiyon merceği tarafından "gerildiği" projeksiyon biçimini ifade eder.
