ANTIPSYCHOTIC SÖZCÜĞÜ İNGILIZCE DİLİNDE NE ANLAMA GELİR?

Antipsikotikler, başta şizofreni ve bipolar bozukluk olmak üzere psikozu yönetmek için kullanılan psikiyatrik bir ilaç sınıfıdır ve giderek psikotik olmayan bozuklukların tedavisinde kullanılmaktadır. Nöroleptik kelimesi Yunanca lepsis kelimesinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Tipik antipsikotik olarak bilinen birinci kuşak antipsikotikler 1950'lerde keşfedildi. Atipik antipsikotikler olarak bilinen çoğu ikinci nesil ilaçlar daha yakın bir tarihte geliştirildi, ancak ilk atipik antipsikotik klozapin 1950'lerde keşfedildi ve klinik olarak 1970'lerde ortaya çıktı. Her iki nesil ilaç da beynin dopamin yollarındaki reseptörleri bloke etme eğilimindedir, ancak atipikler serotonin reseptörlerinde de rol oynamaya eğilimlidir. Antipsikotiklerin belirgin ve nispeten yaygın görülen yan etkileri arasında, tipik olarak eksipramidal semptomlar ve hiperprolaktinemi, tipik olarak atipiklerde ağırlık kazanımı ve metabolik anormallikler bulunmaktadır.
