Aragonit, doğal olarak bulunan iki yaygın kalsiyum karbonat CaCO3 kristal formlarından biri olan bir karbonat mineralidir. Deniz ve tatlı su ortamlarından yağış da dahil olmak üzere biyolojik ve fiziksel süreçlerle oluşur. Aragonitin kristal kafesi, kalsitin kristalinden farklıdır ve farklı bir kristal biçime, yani asiküler kristallerle ortorombik bir sisteme neden olur. Yinelenen eşleştirme, sahte-altıgen formlarda sonuç verir. Aragonit, kolin veya elyaflı olabilir, bazen de Carinthian demir cevherlerindeki cevherlerle olan bağlantılarından flos-ferri diye adlandırılan stalaktit şeklinde dallar.
