Çiçekli bitki sınıflandırması için APG II sisteminde, yıldız isimleri bir kümeyi belirtir. Bu sınıra ait taksonların çoğu, Cronquist sisteminde Asteridae'ye ve önceki sistemlerde Sympetalae'ye yönlendirilmiştir. Asterid ismi daha önceki botanik ismini andırıyor ancak ICBN anlamında resmi bir sıralamalı isim yerine bir kümesinin adı olacak şekilde tasarlanmıştır. Bu sadakat, eudicots'un en spesifik iki grubundan biridir, diğeri rosidlerdir.
