ATOMISM SÖZCÜĞÜ İNGILIZCE DİLİNDE NE ANLAMA GELİR?

Atomizm, birçok antik gelenekte gelişen doğal bir felsefedir. Atomcular, doğanın iki temel ilkeden oluştuğunu kurdu: atom ve boşluk. Atom teorisinde modern bilimsel isimlerden farklı olarak, felsefi atomlar sonsuz çeşitlilikte şekil ve boyutlara gelirler; her biri yıkılmaz, değişmez ve diğerleri ile çarpıştıkları boşluklarla çevrili ya da bir küme oluşturarak kanca oluşturuyorlardı. Farklı şekil, düzenleme ve pozisyon kümeleri, dünyadaki çeşitli makroskopik maddelere yol açmaktadır. Atomizm ve atomları kavramına yapılan atıflar antik Hindistan'da ve eski Yunanistan'da bulunur. Hindistan'da atomizmin Jain, Ajivika ve Carvaka okulları M.Ö. 6. yüzyıla kadar uzanabilir. Nyaya ve Vaisheshika okulları daha sonra atomların daha karmaşık nesneler haline getirilmesine ilişkin teori geliştirdiler. Batıda, atomculuk, M.Ö. 5. yüzyılda Leucippus ve Democritus ile ortaya çıktı. Hint kültürünün Yunan'ı etkilediği, ikisinin de bağımsız olarak evrimleşip gelişmediği anlaşmazlık meselesidir.
